Southaven- Pictures from the May Beer Tasting

We had another good crowd at our Beer Tasting last Wednesday. Our feature brewery was Anchor Brewing out of San Francisco. We tried their Liberty Ale, Anchor Steam and Anchor Porter. I think the Porter was voted the favorite by most of our guests, maybe that was because Josh paired it with a Chocolate Molten Lava Cake, YUM! Since we only had three beers from Anchor, we decided to throw in a vodka for the first course....CIROC Vodka, the world's first vodka made entirely of grapes. Everyone enjoyed their Mini Martinis! Our next Beer Tasting, "Beer From Around the World" will be on June 18th. We will feature Foster's Lager (Australia), Perroni (Italy), Pilsner-Urquell (Czech Republic), and Leinenkugel "Summer Shandy" (United States).

Next Beer Tasting: June 18th at 6:30pm

Hope to see you there!

Note to Mom

Brandon Noe is a Server's Assisstant at the Mesquite Chop House Downtown. I have been an SA at Mesquite since November of 2007. Unfortunately, I had to work on Mother's Day, But my Mother, Donna Noe, and Father Billy Noe, were there to celebrate with me. This is a picture of myself and my Mother and Father at our Special Mothers Day Brunch. Even though I wasn't able to celebrate it with her properly, she was there to support me at what I do best. Happy Mothers Day Mom!

Wine Race 2008- Mesquite Chop House Southaven

For those of you not familiar with the Wine Race in Memphis, it is the weekend before Memphis in May and is a time for area restaurants to get together in competition and in fun. This year's featured country was Turkey and our team name was the "Istan-Bulls" .(Get it? Haha) Teams participate in a Parade, a "Queen of the Vine" Pageant, a Grape Stomp and a Relay Race in which the teams open bottles of wine and run with glassware and bottles on their tray. It is a great time for all who participate and our way of kicking off the busy month of May. River City Management Group had a team entered from almost every company restauraunt, Mesquite Chop House-Southaven, Rum Boogie Cafe, King's Palace, The Pig on Beale and PaPa Pia's participated. Everyone had a great time despite the rainy weather. I was very proud of our team and we came in 5th out of 40 teams in the Relay Race.
Come join us next year!

MCH Southaven VIP Spotlight-May 2008

Meet the Henson Family!
Bill, Heath and Stacy(from left to right) have been loyal guests since the 2nd day we were open. They come in so frequently, they have become members of the Chop House Family.....Every time they arrive, Heath gets greeted by Cory, our Lead Saute Cook, with his own special plate of crispy fried tobacco onions!(His favorite menu item besides the 8 ounce filet!) Heath is in the 4th Grade at SBEC and is 11 years old. Stacy will be joining him next year at SBEC to work with the pre-schoolers. Bill is with Tri-state Valve and Instrument Company and often entertains clients at the Mesquite Chop House. They reside in Olive Branch with their Cock-A-Poo, Tanner, who is a wise 10 years old.
We are ALWAYS glad to see their smiling faces at the host stand!

Downtown Memphis braces for Music Fans

Thousands will descend on Downtown Memphis this weekend for Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival. To those thousands we say this: you can only eat Corndogs and Funnel Cakes so long before it affects your outlook on life, and not in a positive way.

When that time comes, you will look at your friends or loved ones and say, "That's it! Let's go get a real meal!"

How does this sound: you start out with diver scallops topped with smoked bacon crumbles, roasted garlic butter and parmesan cheese with a nice glass of wine, small batch bourbon, or single malt scotch.

Then maybe you move to a salad course, maybe of the buffalo mozzerella or baby spinach variety.

Finally your server brings a Mesquite grilled 12oz hand-cut Prime aged filet that is so succulent you might just decide to spend the rest of Music Fest weekend exploring the rest of our menu.

How does that sound for the perfect Beale Street Music Fest weekend?
