Living Rich!

Motivational speaker and blogger Tim Richardson was in Memphis last week and not only enjoyed his meal at the Mesquite Chop House Downtown, but also the philosophy behind it.

Thanks Tim!

Rave Review From Customer

The following is an excerpt from an email we received Friday (3/28/08).

"I have eaten at the Mesquite Chop House the last two times I’ve been in Memphis
– including yesterday at lunch.

It is my new favorite restaurant –
not just in Memphis – in the world. The Business Lunch steak is the best steak I
have ever eaten – and I am a steak freak. My friends in Nashville are getting
tired of me talking about how good the steak is and how incredible the dressing
is on the lettuce wedge.

I’ll be sending more and more people to
the Chop House and I’m already looking for another excuse to come to Memphis
soon."

We love getting emails and phone calls like this. The staff works hard to make sure the food and service is excellent for every patron, and feedback like this is wonderful to read.

The Business Lunch referred to in the email ($21 on the Mesquite Chop House Downtown lunch menu) includes a Chop House Wedge Salad, a 6 ounce Prime Aged Filet, and a choice of vegetable (Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Salt Encrusted Baked Potato, Chop House Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, Cabernet Rice Medley, Chop House Scalloped Potatoes, Burgandy Button Mushrooms, Smoky Spinach Crema, Sauteed Asparagus, or Lemon Pepper Broccoli Crowns).

Our downtown patrons love the Business Lunch and have told us it makes scheduling lunch meetings easy, knowing that they will have an incredible meal served by a staff that is aware that they are under time constraints.

New Flavors from the Lounge!

We are looking forward April 10Th when the Martini Parties on the patio will start again. My skilled and amazing "Mixologists" behind the bar are creating new items daily. Here is their latest prize the Wedding Cake Martini! It is made with our House Infused Vanilla Bean Vodka and is truly delicious.

March Beer Dinner in Southaven

With a touch of Irish luck the March beer tasting was a great success. This was my first attempt at cooking Corned Beef and Cabbage from scratch and from the many compliments I received my Official March name will be Josh O'Cobbs. It was a pleasure to work with Rick & Mike from Great River Beverages and Daine Marold from Guinness USA. Daine brought each guest a book on the history and brewing of Guinness and a true Pint Glass as a keeper. Other menu items were a Potato & Leek Soup and a Smoked Salmon and Watercress Salad. The monthly Beer Dinners are a lot of fun and I hope to see you in April.

Another Reason to Visit Mesquite Chop House-Southaven For Sunday Brunch

Introducing, The Chop House Bloody Mary! Featuring our House-Infused Pepper Vodka, this Bloody Mary is a meal in itself. We start by infusing our vodka with Red, Orange and Green Bell Peppers, then we add Jalapenos and Serranos. This combination is just enough to give the vodka a nice pepper flavor with a little bit of heat. We add a seasoned salt rim and bloody mary mix. Of course, we use Zing Zang bloody mary mix,the best of the best! We finish this lovely cocktail with a Hot Cherry Pepper, Mexican Pickled Pepper, Pickled Okra, Dill Pickle slice and a House Smoked Serrano Pepper all on a skewer and finally, a lemon and a lime. YUM! You don't have to wait until Sunday to try one. See you soon!

Check out the menu for the March Beer Tasting at the Mesquite Chop House in Southaven (click on the menu to enlarge). You will notice this month that the beer tasting does not feature beer exclusively. Who's Who at the Chop House in Southaven

Meet Phoebe Temple. Phoebe moved to the Southaven area from Columbus, MS. in August of 2006 to attend Massage Therapy School. She joined the Chop House Family in March, 2007 where she excelled as a server. This past October she was chosen from our pool of "veteran servers" to help open the new Chop House located Downtown Memphis. We were lucky enough to have Phoebe return to Southaven in January where she has been working primarily in the coveted position of bartender. Phoebe finished school in February and is looking forward to starting here new career. When not at the Chop House, Phoebe spends her time preparing for the National Certification exam for Massage Therapy and Bodywork.

Dear Friends,

As a practicing "oenophile", I was quite excited this week when my staff and I were able to sample some of the new wines that are joining our already extensive wine list. All of the new wines are available by the glass as well as by the bottle. One of my personal favorites was the Bogle Petite Sirah (2005, California). Dark ink in color and just a wonderful spice softened with fresh fruit and berries. Truly a treat! We have expanded our by the glass list to offer some other unique selections. Guests may now select a rich and ruby red Da Vinci Chianti (2005, Italy) as well as a fruity and floral Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc (2007, Voignier). There are other wonderful choices available but you will just have to come by the Chop House and see for yourself! Friends, food, and wine. Hope to see you soon.

MCH Southaven March Wine Tasting Big Hit!

The March Wine Tasting at the Mesquite Chop House Southaven last night (3/5/08) was one of our best events ever! We were close to a "sell-out" and General Manager Josh Cobbs is working on ways to accomodate the growing cast of wine tasting regulars. Josh is pictured above (left) with Dan Michael of D Vine Wines & Spirits who works closely with the staff to pair unique wines with Mesquite Chop House fare.

The glassware sparkles as the staff prepares to serve the first of 4 courses to our wine enthusiasts.

Dan Michael of D Vine Wines & Spirits describes the wine pairing for the second course.

Check this site regularly for updates on Mesquite Chop House events.

Mesquite Chop House--Southaven

Dear Friends,
As spring draws nearer our thoughts turn towards our very popular Patio Martini Parties. The festivities will begin on April 10th and be held on Thursdays this year. We will be welcoming back the musical talents of Pam & Terry. As always we will have fresh shucked oysters available as well as daily featured Martini specials and many other specials. In the meantime our Monthly Wine Tastings (first Wednesday of every month) are in full swing. This month is a near sell out and the lucky guests will not only have some great new food items that I have created, like Eggplant Bruschettas, but also have the opportunity to try some very new offerings from our recently "overhauled" wine list. Jennifer Hanlon, Beverage & Service Manager, has done an amazing job working with Dan Michaels from D Vine Wine & Spirits to put together a wonderful collection of great tasting and unique wines for all to enjoy.
A new addition to the events at the Mesquite Chop House are our Monthly Beer Tastings (third Wednesday of every month). We have worked closely with the people from Great River Beverages to bring the "art" of food pairing to the wonderful world of BEER!!
I have lots of other things planned for the upcoming year and hope to see you soon!

Snow

First and possibly the last snow this winter! Today was the closest we've seen to a winter wonderland. The snow was best viewed through the windows while sitting close to the warm fireplace inside the dining room. We hope everyone got to see the snow like our staff and guests did today, and we hope to see everyone soon!
