Southaven-July Wine Dinner

This months wine dinner was a wonderful experience. All of the wines featured this evening were Organically grown and produced. Dan Michael, our Host Master from D Vine Wines & Spirits, educated our guests on the strict guide lines that allow a wine to be Organic. He spoke of the growing process as well as the bottling standards. Who knew that going to school could be such fun! His class, "Wine Drinking For Majors" is probably already full!

The menu tonight was especially delicious. We started with the Prosciutto Wrapped Melon and Bel Paese Cheese with Crostini. The very "young and light" Candoni Pinot Grigio, was a great combination. "The crispness of the wine helped cut the creaminess of the cheese" stated one of our guests. It really got the guests palates ready for the evening.
The second course was a Pan Seared Diver Scallop over Jasmine Rice with a Honey Ginger Glaze. The True Earth Chardonnay that we paired with it was very buttery and loved by all.

We then served a Baby Spinach Salad topped with Goat Cheese and Smoked Salmon. The contrasting flavors and textures of the toppings gained this dish high praise. The Parducci Pinot Noir was a great pairing. Dan described the wine as having "Very mellow tannins and lots of fruit" One of our guests agreed with a deep "Mmmmmmm"
For the finale we paired our succulent Bone-In Pork Chop topped with a Red Wine Demi Glace and Sweet Potato Fries with the Frey Zinfandel. The flavors were so perfectly matched that we were told to "Put this on the menu"!!!
The monthly Wine Dinner in Southaven has become a staple in many of our guests monthly activities. It is hard to pick what they like the most; the wine, the food, or the great time that they have.

Our next dinner will be August 6th. Please call 662.890.2467 for reservations.
