Martini Party Season is Officially OPEN!

Southaven-We had our our first Martini Party of 2008 on Thursday, April 10th. The weather did not cooperate with us, but the party went on! Pam and Terry set up in the Jazz Lounge and we had a nice little crowd at the bar all evening long. This Thursday promises to bring us better weather so come and join us on our newly enhanced patio. We have installed beautiful wrought- iron lamp posts and have umbrella heaters to ward off the chilly evening air. With these new heaters, we should be partying well into the Fall! Don't forget, we have fresh shucked oysters on the half shell for a quarter each, we also have a different Feature Martini each week offered at a special price, Pam and Terry entertain us with a wide array of music and we have 30 different martinis as well as flavored Mojitos. Something new this season is our Martini Flights (see picture). We offer two ounce portions of 3 different flavors ....why have one when you can try three? Find your favorite......we offer 3 new flavors each week! This week we have the Tropical Martini, Red Raspberry and Pineapple Cosmo. I look forward to seeing all of our old friends as well as meeting new ones this year. Come and join us!

See you this Thursday on the Patio at 6pm!!!!

Memphis Redbirds First Home Game!

Baseball season is here and after weeks of rain (including last night) it looks like there will be beautiful weather for the Redbirds' home opener in Downtown Memphis tonight.

After the game, stop by the Mesquite Chop House Downtown for an incredible Prime steak. If you filled up on hot dogs at the game, stop in for coffee and dessert and wait for the traffic to clear out of downtown. It's a great way to top off a beautiful spring night.

Go Redbirds!

April Wine Dinner in Southaven

The Wine Dinner this month took on an International flair where we paired wines from France, California, Italy, and Australia with some truly delicious entree selections. We began with Coquilles Ste Jacques with the 2005 Louis Jadot "Pouilly-Fuisse". The second course was a California Cheddar and Apple salad with a 2006 Chateau St. Jean Sonoma Chardonnay. The third course was a zesty Petite Smoked Chicken Cannelloni with a just as spicy 2005 Da Vinci Chianti. We ended the dinner with one of my specialties, Sun Dried Cherry Stuffed Pork Loin paired with a 2005 Wishing Tree Shiraz. It was another wonderful dinner where good friends always find great food and wine.

Taste Of Desoto

The Fourth Annual Tim Mote Taste of Desoto was another very successful event for my staff in Southaven. We worked long hours to bring together a wonderful menu with selections of Mesquite Grilled Bison Tenderloin, Hickory Smoked Quail, Sold Smoked Salmon Bruchetta, and Petite Strawberries & Sweet Cream. Our efforts were acknowledged when we received awards for "Tastiest Food" and the coveted "Best of Show". This was our third year to participate and the third consecutive year to bring Top Honors back to the Mesquite Chop House. Thank you to all of Desoto County who came out and supported us.

March 26 Downtown Wine Tasting

The March 26 Mesquite Chop House Downtown Wine Tasting was our best yet. We had a combination of newbies and veterans this time around and the conversation was lively.

Our wine tastings are always fun, educational, and delicious for patrons and staff alike, but Downtown we are noticing an unanticipated phenomena. Downtowners who are strangers to one another when they arrive are leaving as friends and business contacts. That is a great thing to see as more and more folks move into the Downtown core.

Now…the photos!

Here is a great shot of the group with glasses at the ready. Four incredible food courses paired with four exquisite wines...no wonder they are smiling.

Pictured below is wine expert John Arnold of Victor L. Robilio Co., Inc. We greatly appreciate Robilio Co. and John working with our chefs to create our pairings. Never at a loss for words, John is an animated and knowlegeble sommelier.

We look forward to seeing everyone again for the April Wine Tasting at the Downtown location on April 30. Chef Marcus Lockett and John Arnold will have another excellent multi-course wine pairing planned soon. Check back here for details.

Have A Great Wild Game Recipe?

This May the Mesquite Chop House Southaven is holding its 1st Annual Wild Game Dinner featuring recipes from... well, possibly you!

The Midsouth is one of the great areas in the world to hunt and fish, and there are many folks here who do one or both proficiently. There are far less however who can prepare a meal from their catch or kill that is worthy of eating outside the cigar-smoke stained walls of the fishing or hunting camp.

Are you the exception? Are you a sportsman and a chef?

Do you have a wild game recipe so good your wife or girlfriend actually allows it to be prepared in her home for polite company? We want to take that thought a step further and ask,  do you think it's good enough to be prepared by professional chefs at the Mesquite Chop House Southaven and served to a packed restaurant?

Talk about braggin' rights!

If you think you have what it takes, submit your recipe by email to General Manager Josh Cobbs ( jmcobbs@gmail.com ). Josh and his team of culinary experts will select the best of the best to be featured at the Wild Game Dinner on May 28, 2008.

More details soon...
